Hospital Day Two

Our second day started pretty early with nurses coming in throughout the night. Already this morning (5:30am) Connie has hit her two milestones: walk and go to the bathroom. Not really the highest goals, but they seemed a long way away yesterday. That and watching it snowing outside have been the highlights. I guess one other good thing is watching the big finale of Monk. Great ending to a great show.

They must be low on staff around here since calls to the nurse and there response times are measured in hours rather than minutes. They seem competent enough, just too in demand and perhaps a bit irritated at the workload.

It was a huge relief to see Connie up out of the bed. It’s been miserable around here and I think it was a real boost to our attitudes. The gas that they inflated her stomach area with during the procedure has been the major source of misery and it would be nice to have that behind us (no pun intended). I’m not the most effective person at consoling and so I end up feeling helpless and unable to really affect her well being. I’m ready to go home and so us Connie.

Update: We are at home! It’s wonderful to be out of the hospital and back in the comfort of our own house. Connie is doing much better now. She’s dressed and able to get up and walk around without any help. Thank you, thank you to all those that have sent up prayers for us. You know who you are and it is appreciated. Keep them up. Also, special thanks to Stan & Gayle for staying with our kids for a couple days. The kids had a great time and it made it much easier for Connie and I to concentrate on getting back home without having to worry about them.
